No two share a sightline. Each was sited before it was designed — the buildings follow the rock, not a masterplan.
Between 145 and 420 square metres, all single-storey, all open on at least two sides.
Every villa has its own water — a plunge pool, a bathing court, or in Rembulan’s case a pool long enough to swim properly. There is no air conditioning in the living spaces and none has ever been asked for; the cross-draught off the cliff does the work. Bedrooms are cooled, quietly, for sleeping.
Rates are quoted per villa rather than per person and include all meals, the full spa list, and transfers. We publish them on request rather than on the site.
01 / 05 — Ocean Pavilion
the open sea
Cantilevered over the cliff edge, Segara has no wall on its western side — only a run of folding teak screens and then the Indian Ocean. At dusk the whole pavilion turns the colour of the water.
02 / 05 — Canopy Villa
wind
Set six metres into the frangipani canopy on ironwood stilts. You hear the surf before you see it. Mornings arrive here as green light through leaves rather than as sun.
03 / 05 — Moon Pool Villa
the moon
Built around a black-bottomed pool that holds the moon almost every clear night of the year. Two bedrooms open onto it from opposite sides of a single, quiet courtyard.
04 / 05 — Garden Villa
earth
The most grounded of the five. Coral-stone walls enclose a garden of pandan, heliconia and old frangipani, and the sound of the ocean reaches you filtered through all of it.

the unseen world
The whole northern headland, reached by one path and shared with no one. Three pavilions, a private kitchen, and a stretch of shoreline that belongs to the house for the length of your stay.
Niskala is released as a single stay with its own chef and host. It is the only part of Tirtala we will hold on a provisional basis.
